Therapist Spotlight: Meet Christine

Therapist Spotlight: Meet Christine! Christine works with adults, teens and couples, using a person-centered, cognitive behavioral approach. Christine enjoys drawing, painting and going for walks and hikes. Christine has been with the office since March of 2023. Get to know a little more about Christine:

What are three interesting facts about you?

-I have hiked the Grand Canyon and camped at the bottom.

-I have visited Haiti several times on missionary trips.

-I don’t have any cavities :).

What’s your claim to fame?

Being part Italian, my family traditions revolve around food. I try to keep it alive within my family’s homemade soup which we call “Cuadre”. It is always expected at each holiday meal. Funny side story, I remember feeling honored and excited to make this “unique” and “authentic” family recipe from scratch. Only to find out years later that “Cuadre” means “square” in Italian which is the shape of the noodle and is another way to make chicken soup. LOL. But it is still delicious and still very special to me.

Favorite dessert?

I have a gluten sensitivity so staying away from favorite desserts is tough but keeps me healthy! Apple crisp is ONE of my favorites. I couldn’t have this for a long time due to my allergy, now they make gluten free oatmeal so that makes me very happy! :)

What job would you be terrible at?

Anything involving math. :)

What would be your first question after waking up from being cryogenically frozen for 100 years?

Since I am Italian and I am always hungry, the question would be what’s for dinner. :)

What’s the best way to start your day?

I find if I don’t have at least 8 hours of good sleep, start my day with prayer and some form of exercise outside, I am groggy, more emotional, not focused, just not at my best. So I try to stick with this routine as much as possible for my sake and others. ; )

What are some things you’ve had to unlearn?

I didn’t grow up with a strong faith so I had to unlearn many bad habits and behaviors. With the help of the Holy Spirit I was able to do this. Not that it means I am done, I think we all have to continue to discover and rediscover bad habits and find ways to unlearn them.

Why did you decide to become a therapist/counselor?

I believe it is a gift God gave me to share. From a young age I always wanted to help people. Growing up many people said they liked talking with me and felt better afterwards. Or many times have said, I don’t know why I just told you “this” I have never told anyone before. I listened to this feedback, took it to God in prayer and haven’t looked back!

What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned?

That life is not about me. It isn’t about me feeling better, me being at my best for ME, it is to fill me so I can give to others. That wasn’t the hardest, that was the BEST discovery. I remember feeling foolish thinking otherwise so that was the hardest part, realizing how selfish I had been for so long.

What do you love most about working with clients?

Seeing the joy in a client’s eyes after they pull through a deep struggle and unlock its power over them.
