FAQs

How long are appointments?

Typically, each session lasts about 50 minutes long. You have a lot of say in how long the sessions go, though, so you can ask for a longer session, if you would like. In the case of a longer session, it would be arranged ahead of time and the fee may change depending on the time allotted for you.

How much will it cost?

We understand that investing in your mental, emotional, and relationship health is a big step. Our standard 50 minute session with a fully licensed therapist is $140. We take payment at time of service, which allows you to stay aware of your personal budget and make scheduling decisions that are best for you. We may offer a reduced rate if you are not in a place to pay our full rate.

Do you accept my insurance?

All of our therapists are Out of Network providers, meaning that we do not work directly with any insurance agencies, but we are able to provide you with an itemized receipt (known as a “Superbill”) that you may be able to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. This all depends on your specific insurance policy.

Why don’t you accept insurance?

There are a few reasons that have led us to decide to not accept any insurance. First, and most importantly, we want you to have the final say in what type of treatment you receive and the frequency and duration of that treatment. When you see a counselor through your insurance, they are the ones who make that decision, regardless of your desire. This can lead to a counseling experience that is unsatisfactory, and your satisfaction with my services is a top priority to us. Second, we want to keep you from any unnecessary diagnosis. When you choose to see a counselor through your insurance provider, there always is a diagnosis. Sometimes, this means giving a diagnosis (that goes on your permanent record!) that may not even be applicable! Third, we want to help keep all of your information safe and confidential. When you see a counselor that is private pay, all of your information stays “in house.” When working with your insurance, a counselor must provide your diagnosis and progress information to the insurance company. This could lead to your information leaking out. Every year, the Department of Health and Human Services reports thousands of HIPAA compliance violations. By keeping all of your information without our system, we greatly reduce the risk of any violations.
